National Education Policy 2020
केंद्र सरकार ने बुधवार को शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में दो बड़े फैसले लिए हैं। पहला – केंद्रीय मानव संसाधनव विकास मंत्रालय (MHRD) का नाम बदलकर शिक्षा मंत्रालय (Ministry of Education) किया है। दूसरा – नई राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति (NEP 2020) को स्वीकृति दे दी है।
The central government has taken two major decisions in the field of education on Wednesday. First – Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has been renamed as Ministry of Education. Second – New National Education Policy (NEP 2020) has been approved.
Changed 10 + 2 + 3 systems

|What changed at school level
Existing 10 + 2 + 3 systems have been replaced. This has been changed to 5 + 3 + 3 + 4. 5 years of foundation education, 3 years preparatory, 3 years middle and 4 years schooling at secondary level.Children will start their first grade from the age of 6. Classes 1 to 10 will be taught at the age of 6 to 16 years. Education will be done from 11th to 12th at the age of 16 to 18 years.
Students will be given two levels of options in all subjects. For example, this time CBSE had given two level options in Maths – Basic and Standard. Now starting from Maths, this kind of option will be available in all subjects. Students will be able to study it by choosing one option as per their wish.
Instructions should be given to children in schools in their home language, mother tongue and regional language till at least 5th grade. However it can also be adopted for classes 8th and beyond.
Board exams will be simplified a bit. The examination will be such that the core competency can be tested. These exams on objective and subjective patterns will be offered twice a year. Students will be able to choose one of these.
In the next 15 years, colleges will be given autonomy to award degrees. Colleges will not require accreditation from universities. The deemed university status will also be abolished.
It is proposed to impose a fee cap in private institutions for higher education. That means the maximum fees will be fixed.
Some of the world’s top 100 universities will be encouraged to visit India. There will be an effort to make the top Indian institutions global.
All higher education institutions will be made multidisciplinary by 2040. National institutes for Pali, Prakrit, Persians will be established in university campuses only
